![]() ![]() Ice Vellumental will enclose itslef into a ball of ice. Ice Vellumental Tips and Strategy Getting past Ice Vellumental's defenses Two attacks from the 1000-Fold Arms should be anough to finish Ice Vellumental off. If the ON Panel is already active, it is also possible to just move the Magic Circle to right in front of Mario, where he can use it immediately after moving. Only three rings will be rotated, so as long as you can remember where they were before being roated, you can set the same path back up and get to the Magic Circle to use another 1000-Fold Arms attack. Phase 2Īfter you take away enough of its HP (usually after the second 1000-Fold Arms attack), the Ice Vellumental will use a new move where it creates an ice maze, then rotates the rings to hide the path. Doing this will be essential, as Panels like the ON Panel and Magic Circles may show up underneath the icicles. Avoid walking over the snowy spaces, although the icicles can be removed by pressing R to slide the rows they are contained it, which will cause them to break. The next turns will have the same objective (using the Fire Vellumental to remove its shield, then landing a successful attack with your 1000-Fold Arms), but an extra challenge will be added in the form of the frozen spaces that appear. This attack will deal a significant amount of damage. In your next move, you will want to activate the ON Panel again, then land on a Magic Circle to use your 1000-Fold Arms. Doing this will remove Ice Vellumental's shield. You won't be able to attack, but on your next turn, set up a path that allows you to target both the ON Panel and the Fire Vellumental Magic Circle. In order to get an ON Panel onto the board, your first move should be targeting the treasure chest that appears, as getting it will add in an ON Panel. Note that while Ice Vellumental is surrounded in the ball of ice, none of your attacks will hurt it, so you need to try and get rid of the ice. The final phase is by far the greatest, with you having to solve one final (albeit tricky) ring puzzle while having to dodge King Olly’s attacks in a similar manner to guarding, which culminates in a final rush attack with the Origami Hammer to cap off the fight. The goal of this battle is the get past the Ice Vellumental's defenses, activate an ON Panel, then use the 1000-Fold Arms to inflict heavy damage. ![]() ![]() His second phase, while probably the weakest of them all, was still really cool, with it requiring mastery of the rush attack and very precise jump timing to make it over some of the obstacles. The first phase might be as easy as turning a doorknob, but I actually found it to be great fun, as it tests your knowledge of the Vellumentals that you’ve been using throughout the whole game with some very nice spins on their attack, like the Ice Maze getting reshuffled around some more, and the Water Vellumental’s waterspouts spinning around in order to fake you out, along with the fact that the boss recovers HP the longer you take to attack, which makes figuring out some of the ring puzzles particularly intense. King Olly has a much better final boss fight than the examples I just mentioned by a long shot. Still, this boss fight is about as much fun as having to walk through a desert while wearing boots made out of solid steel The second phase doesn’t help, though the awesome remix of the Super Star/Wing Cap theme helps it a little bit. Absolutely nothing interesting happens at all in the first phase aside from a couple of enemies appearing to stretch out the fight for even longer unless you just so happen to have the correct sticker. Stupidly long health bar, boring battle, and the requirement of a heaping ton of stickers just to have a chance at beating him. Sticker Star Bowser is the literal textbook definition of an unfunny joke. There’s no clever Pixl usage or 3D flipping, its just you jumping on his head a couple of times, which just felt unrewarding, especially for how intense this fight was made up to be So what happens? We jump on his head three times with Bowser and he dies. Tippi and Bleck use their love to restore the hearts and render Super Dimentio vulnerable. Dimentio has the Chaos Heart and Luigi in his grasp and have sent Tippi and Bleck to Dimension D where they cannot stop him. Super Dimentio just felt like a massive letdown to me. Now don’t get me wrong, he’s far from the best boss in the series, but in my opinion, I believe that Olly’s boss fight was much better than some of the final bosses that preceded him, those being Super Dimentio and Sticker Star Bowser I think that King Olly’s boss fight was a really cool and very creative way to cap off a great game. So I’ve been seeing a lot of people talking about how King Olly’s final battle was the worst one in the franchise, and I’m. ![]()
